Renn Haus Projects

In 1989 Porsche was starting to realize the success in the 944 model (built and designed off its predecessor the 924).  The 944 was a nimble, well balanced, sports car that had a front engine rear transaxle layout offered in four different trim levels.  The base 944 with its 2.7L inline 4 cylinder only put out a modest 163HP with no real torque to brag about.  The 944 S model did increase the power some to 187HP, but the real players were the 944 S2 and Turbo choices bringing 208HP and 247HP respectively.  The turbo and S2 versions also had an optional performance brake package as well as a limited slip transmission option.  The 944 went on to become the most successful model up until the release and eventual success of the 986 Boxster.   Renn Haus acquired this vehicle in

This is a company car bought in 2013 with 1,377 for us to have a little fun. In fact, it now has 8,000 miles as we’ve had a lot of fun!

The angry AMG 6.2-liter V-8 normally aspirated engine growls and howls upon start up and acceleration. Power from the 6.2-liter V-8 is 481 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. The AMG engineers have fitted the seven-speed Speedshift Plus MCT automatic, which trades a conventional torque converter for a clutch pack with paddle shifts. The new transmission, first seen in the SL63 and now spreading throughout the lineup, allows the driver to choose from four different driving modes and includes AMG’s Race Start launch-control function.

First thing we did was a RENN HAUS DME Tune, install equal length long tube headers and fabricate a custom exhaust. This brought the power to about 580 hp and 580 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes Benz had deliberately chocked the throttle body so as not to produce this crazy power in such a light weight coupe.

In Manual or Sport+ mode the engine will spin the tires under full load and when shifting to 2nd, 3rd and 4th! Haven’t timed it yet but our experience says this car is very close to 3.0 seconds 0 to 60 mph. The exhaust note now barks and screams. You can watch the video here

Call us to see how we can upgrade the performance and exhaust note on your special hot rod.
